
Ertuğrul Doğan Erzengin serves as Of Counsel (Academic Advisor) to Koçak | Sayım | Örnek, providing academic perspective and rigorous doctrinal analysis on complex private law matters. He is currently a Research Assistant in the Department of Civil Law at Marmara University Faculty of Law.
He received his LL.B. from Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 2016 and subsequently gained legal experience in the head-office legal department of a multinational bank. He began his postgraduate studies in Private Law at Istanbul University in 2017 and continued at Marmara University from 2018, completing his master’s degree in 2020 with a thesis on the early return of leased premises before termination of the lease. He commenced his Ph.D. in Private Law at Marmara University in the same year, conducted doctoral research at the Faculty of Law of the University of Münster in 2021–2022, and received his Ph.D. in 2026 with a dissertation on suspended invalidity.
His academic work focuses on Civil Law, the Law of Obligations, contractual relationships, Liability Law, Property Law, Inheritance Law, Technology Law and Artificial Intelligence, and the Sociology of Law. His graduate research has examined the early return of leased premises and the doctrine of suspended invalidity. Comparative law, conflicting standard contract terms, limitations of damages under the CISG and the socio-economic functions of private law also feature prominently in his scholarship.
Erzengin is the author of Early Return of Leased Premises Before Termination of the Contract (TCO Art. 325), published by On İki Levha Publishing, while his book Suspended Invalidity is forthcoming. His broader academic work addresses contract gaps, standard contract terms, liability, the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act, personal data as counter-performance in consumer contracts, sustainability in property law and the socio-economic dimensions of private law.
